Fire and rescue authorities are responsible not only for their own performance and improvement but also for leading the delivery of improved outcomes for local people in their area. Performance monitoring and review is a key part of this process.
The RBFRS performance review team produces our corporate plan and develops and manages the RBFRS corporate performance framework.
As part of its role, the team also provides RBFRS with an effective operational debriefing process and conducts internal departmental and functional audits. These are used to identify good practice and any areas for improvement or development.
Other areas for which the team is responsible include acting as a ‘critical friend’. By challenging organisational activities such as the integrated risk management plan (IRMP), risk management and health and safety procedures, the team ensures compliance with RBFRS policy and procedure. They are also directly involved in the support and delivery of corporate projects, such as fire authority member development, external consultation activities and coordination of peer reviews.
