Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) aims to contribute to securing a safe society by reducing the incidence of death, injury and damage to property from fire and other emergencies.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) prides itself on being dynamic and forward thinking.

RBFRS operates 18 fire stations, 10 wholetime (shift) stations (three with retained units), 7 retained stations and 1 wholetime day-crewed station.

Our personnel make-up is:

• 418 fulltime firefighters*.
• 103 retained (part time) firefighters*.
• 169 other staff (including Call Control and Support staff).

*figures include dual contract employees who are both wholetime and retained therefore numbers may be duplicated. (All figures as of November 2011).

Brigade headquarters is based in Reading, and there is a separate training centre also based in Reading.
