Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) aims to contribute to securing a safe society by reducing the incidence of
death, injury and damage to property from fire and other emergencies.
Structure of the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority
Function
Members of the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority are responsible for setting the Fire and Rescue Service operating
budget and determining how the service is run.
Structure
The Authority comprises 26 local councillors appointed by the six unitary authorities in the county: Bracknell Forest
Borough Council; Reading Borough Council; Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead; Slough Borough Council; West Berkshire
Council and Wokingham Borough Council.
The Chief Fire Officer, Authority Treasurer and Authority Clerk and Monitoring Officer are the principal personnel whom liaise
directly between the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service and with the Royal Berkshire Fire Authority. Refer to the following
