Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service does not attend domestic premises to deal with burst water pipes caused by
weather conditions. RBFRS can attend incidents where there is a hazard from flood water affecting the electricity supply
or where vulnerable people are at risk.

Check Your Smoke Alarm
Did you know that you are more than four times as likely to die in a fire if you don’t have a working smoke alarm?
Check your smoke alarm every week. Last year, 246 people died in house fires in the UK. However, one in three
battery alarms fail to work in fires, usually because the battery was dead or intentionally removed.

Smoke detectors can give you precious extra time to get out of the house but they are completely useless if the
batteries are missing or flat.
The best way to protect yourself and your family is to fit smoke alarms to every level of your home and test the
