Have A Go Days

We do hold Have A Go sessions for individuals who are interested in a career as a wholetime or retained (part-time) firefighter and would like to find out more about what the job actually entails.

What happens at these events?

The Have A Go events are run throughout the year, you will be able to try out some written and physical entry tests that potential firefighters need to pass and to gauge fitness levels. In addition you will also have the opportunity to meet firefighters already in the role and to have a tour of the station. Other Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service staff are also on hand to explain more about the application process for those who are interested and what the job actually entails. Men and women from every background are very welcome.

Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to attend these recruitment events. Should you require any additional information about the Have A Go events please contact the Human Resources Department on recruitment@rbfrs.co.uk or alternatively visit your local retained fire station. 

To become a retained firefighter you will need to be able to reach the retained station within 6 to 8 minutes (times and distance requirements vary for each station).
