Serving the Communities of Berkshire - Prevention Manager

Do you have experience of managing services for vulnerable people and a real passion for delivering community safety through working with others or have you been working in social care and are looking for a new challenge? If so, we are currently recruiting for three local Prevention Managers.

At Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service we believe preventing an emergency from ever happening is the most effective way of enabling all communities to live safe and fulfilling lives. We know that some people are at greater risk or more vulnerable than others. We also know that many of those at the greatest risk are known to other organisations.

We want to recruit, retain and develop people who are dedicated to delivering a safe, professional and efficient service to the public 24/7, 365 days a year.

We are seeking to appoint three Prevention Managers who will bring commitment, passion and experience to our organisation, can establish effective partnership relationships and build internal understanding and capability so that our prevention activities access and target those who are the most vulnerable or at the greatest risk.

These roles will focus on preventing emergencies, injuries and deaths as a consequence of fire, road traffic incidents and other risks, such as water, whilst promoting the wider wellbeing agenda of partner organisations.

The right candidate will have a good understanding of how best to reach the most vulnerable in our community and will benefit from having worked in a multi-agency partnership environment or have experience in adult social care.

These roles will be directly responsible for a team comprising Community Safety Advisors and Safe and Well Technicians. Working as part of a Hub Management Team, you will provide leadership and management across the Hub, delivering Local Safety Plans to meet the needs of the communities we serve.

The right candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, be an effective communicator able to advise and support, and have a good understanding of the standards required to safeguard vulnerable groups. 

Benefits

Salary – Grade 6: £37,849 to £42,683 per annum.

Full-time (37 hours per week).  We are happy to consider flexible working and job-share arrangements.

We offer an excellent leave allowance of 29 days (plus bank holidays) per annum, increasing to 34 days (plus bank holidays) after completing five years’ service.

  • ·Wokingham (Central)
  • ·Newsham Court, Calcot, Reading. (West)
