Volunteer Community Champion

We are committed to promoting fire safety to the residents of Berkshire, volunteers are integral to the organisation and help us to ensure we are reaching people across the county.

Over the last year Volunteers have enabled us to increase the number of home fire safety checks, raise the profile of the organisation and ensure we promote the service to people most at risk from fires.

We value the contribution volunteers make to the Fire and Rescue Service, as a volunteer you will be part of a team committed to ensuring people are able to lead safe and fulfilling lives.

Would you like to volunteer for a service that is committed to improving community safety?

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service have exciting opportunities for Volunteer Community Champions who will support the fire service by:

  • Promoting Home Fire Safety Checks for residents over the age of 65
  • Contacting Nepalese speaking residents to arrange Home Fire Safety Checks
  • Assisting Fire Fighters and Technicians on pre-arranged home visits
  • Promoting Fire Safety messages

Full induction training will be provided and all volunteers will have the opportunity to volunteer alongside their local fire crew, meet other volunteers, develop new skills and share important messages within the community.
