DESCRIPTION:Get your electric blanket tested for free this autumn. \n\n\n\nAccidental electric blanket fires rise by 24% year-on-year. \n\n\n\nHouseholds are being urged to check that their heating devices are safe\, as fires involving electric blankets have reached a five year high. \n\n\n\nThe Public Protection Partnership will once again be offering a free Electric Blanket Testing service this year in Bracknell and Newbury. \n\n\n\nThe date\, times and venues are: \n\n\n\n\nMonday\, 26 October 2026. From 9:30am to 3:30pm. At Bracknell Fire Station.\n\n\n\nTuesday\, 27 October 2026. From 9:30am to 3:30pm. At Newbury Library.\n\n\n\n\nNo booking is required\, however please note\, as it is a drop-in service\, you may be required to wait to have your item/s checked. \n\n\n\nIf you are unable to attend the venue on either date to have your blanket tested\, please contact tsadvice@westberks.gov.uk or telephone 01635 503242 to discuss collection and drop-off of your item/s. \n\n\n\nPlease note that if your blanket fails testing\, it will be retained and disposed of safely by PPP Officers.
