SUMMARY:Young Firefighters Have A Go Event
DESCRIPTION:We are encouraging all young people\, aged between 12-16 years old\, to come along and have a go ahead of the intake for the next Young Firefighters course. \n\n\n\nYoung Firefighters is a 36-week course provided by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS)\, offering young people a range of valuable practical and theoretical skills to make a positive impact on their career paths. \n\n\n\nThe next intake will begin in September 2019\, running from September to July following the school terms and lasts for one academic year. There are four Young Firefighters units within RBFRS based on fire stations\, each run one evening a week from 7pm to 9pm. Units run on Wednesday evenings at Whitley Wood and Crowthorne and Thursday evenings at Maidenhead and Newbury.

SUMMARY:Female Focused Have a Go event
DESCRIPTION:RFBRS has announced a series of Have a Go events aimed at encouraging more women to consider a career as a firefighter.  \n\n\n\nAlthough women make up a significant proportion of support and Control roles\, they are under-represented in operational roles and RBFRS would like more women to apply so that its workforce can better reflect the community they serve. \n\n\n\nThe events will be run at Whitley Wood Training Centre in April\, May and June and will provide a range of fire service activities for potential applicants to take part in. \n\n\n\nThe events will include a tour of the fire station and an opportunity to try physical and written tests similar to those they would need to perform during recruitment and training. Our firefighters and fitness advisors will also all be on hand to offer advice and support. \n\n\n\nIt is hoped that by providing an overview of the recruitment process and support\, more women will consider applying to become either wholetime or on-call firefighters. Although the recruitment window is not currently open for wholetime firefighters\, it is expected that in the coming months there will be opportunities to apply for the role. \n\n\n\nTo register\, please email your name and the date you wish to attend to recruitment@rbfrs.co.uk. \n\n\n\nThank you.
