Fun at Wokingham Road Fire Station Open Day

If you’re looking for a family day out, then Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) has just the thing for you! Wokingham Road Fire Station will be putting on a fun-filled open day on Tuesday, 31 May.

The open day, which runs from 11.30am to 4pm, will include realistic live demonstrations from the crews, including releasing a ‘casualty’ from a simulated road traffic collision and ‘working at height’ equipment. The dramatic hot oil display unit will be there to demonstrate the dangers of this type of fire. Visitors will also be able to test out some of the life-saving equipment that is used by our firefighters every day in emergencies.

You will have the chance to explore the fire engines, look at the equipment used by firefighters and even squirt water from the hose reels. If all those activities weren’t enough, there will also be the opportunity to explore RBFRS’ Fire Alpha II Rescue Boat which responds to emergencies on the River Thames, as well as RBFRS’ ‘drown tank’, an innovative visual aid which brings to life the dangers of swimming near weirs.

The open day will provide the perfect opportunity for people to talk to our firefighters and Prevention team about fire and water safety issues. Partners from organisations including Thames Valley Police and Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will also be on hand to offer advice and information on a range of topics, such as reducing crime and water safety.

There is no parking available on the fire station so visitors are advised to use off road parking or public transport where possible.
