These sessions have been designed to give anyone a flavour of the role – whether you’ve thought about it before or not. \n\n\n\nAll sessions are free to attend\, but please note that they may be subject to change based on operational requirements. \n\n\n\nWe are offering four sessions\, which will be held both online and at our fire stations across Berkshire. You are welcome to attend the session that is most convenient for you.  We would encourage you to attend one session from each to give you a thorough overview of the role and what the recruitment process involves. However\, it is not mandatory to attend all sessions. \n\n\n\nSession 3 – Station visits and demonstrations. DESCRIPTION:Come along and say hello at Maidenhead Fire Station’s Open Day on Sunday\, 19 June! \n\n\n\nThe day will include live demonstrations from crews and our emergency service partners. Guests will be able to go behind the scenes at the Station and get an up-close experience with fire engines and the Service’s new Aerial Ladder Platform. You will be able to learn more about what it’s like to be an On-Call Firefighter in Berkshire. \n\n\n\nWe’ll also be holding a raffle supported by local businesses\, offering food and refreshments\, and setting up a play firehouse for children to have a go at being firefighters. \n\n\n\nAll money raised will be split between The Fire Fighters Charity and The Brett Foundation\, a Maidenhead-based Charity. \n\n\n\nWe hope to see you there!

You will also have the chance to meet some of the local firefighters who are already in the role. \n\n\n\nPlease arrive for 10am on the day of the event\, so we can ensure that you are able to complete the tests. The event will be finished by 2pm\, although you are welcome to leave once you have completed your tests. \n\n\n\nStill not sure if it’s for you? SUMMARY:Young Firefighters Have A Go Event
DESCRIPTION:We are encouraging all young people\, aged between 12-16 years old\, to come along and have a go ahead of the intake for the next Young Firefighters course. \n\n\n\nYoung Firefighters is a 36-week course provided by Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS)\, offering young people a range of valuable practical and theoretical skills to make a positive impact on their career paths. \n\n\n\nThe next intake will begin in September 2019\, running from September to July following the school terms and lasts for one academic year. There are four Young Firefighters units within RBFRS based on fire stations\, each run one evening a week from 7pm to 9pm. Units run on Wednesday evenings at Whitley Wood and Crowthorne and Thursday evenings at Maidenhead and Newbury.
