Awards Categories

Certificate of Merit. This category is intended to recognise achievements that are worthy of special merit.

Certificate of Commendation. This category is intended to recognise individuals who have shown operational excellence when responding to, or dealing with an emergency.

Act of Bravery Award. This category is intended to recognise members of the public and partner agencies in recognition of exceptional acts of courage to assist others in need.

Outstanding Team Achievement. This category is intended to recognise a team that has demonstrated excellence across the fields and disciplines in which they have an impact.

Innovation of the Year Award. This category is intended to recognise a team or individual that has brought about innovation to help achieve our Strategic Commitments. 

Culture and Inclusion Award This category is intended to recognise an individual that has worked to create an inclusive working environment and culture where everyone feels valued and is treated with dignity and respect.

Crew of the Year. This category is intended to recognise a crew for outstanding commitment to achieving excellent outcomes for local communities, and for making their fire station a place to be proud of.

Support Team of the Year. This category is intended to recognise a support team for making an outstanding contribution to delivering our Strategic Commitments and providing excellent customer service.

Excellence in Leadership. This category is intended to recognise an individual who has demonstrated exceptional leadership. Leadership can be exhibited by anyone in the organisation at any level – not just at a managerial level. 

Fundraising Initiative of the Year. This category is intended to recognise an individual or team who has used an innovative idea to raise money for charity.

The Shane Burton Award for a Career Devoted to Public Service. This category is intended to recognise an individual who is soon to leave the Service and who has devoted a long career to public service.
