Values and Culture in Fire and Rescue Services

Recommendation 33: 

By 1 August 2023, chief fire officers should develop plans to promote progression paths for existing staff in non-operational roles and put plans in place to reduce any inequalities of opportunity.​ 

RBFRS action: We have Development and Assessment Pathways (DAPs) in place for our operational roles and expanding these to support clear development routes for professional areas. Our core skills courses for the core development aspects and leadership development are open to all staff across the Service.   

Managers have regular dialogue meetings and personal development meetings with colleagues. 

All roles are advertised internally, allowing colleagues to apply. We also have a bursary scheme and an internal learning and development budget.
