Electric Blanket Testing

When did you last replace or get your electric blanket safety checked?
Each year there are about 1000 fires caused by faulty electric blankets. Around 20 people are killed and 250 injured in these fires.
This year the Public Protection Partnership are offering free drop-in sessions for residents across West Berkshire to safety test their electric blankets. The date, times and venues are:
- Monday, 29 September 2025. From 9:30am to 3:30pm. At the Public Protection Partnership Offices Theale Gateway, behind Theale Library, Church Street, Theale, RG7 5BZ
- Tuesday, 30 September 2025. From 9:30am to 3:30pm. At the Public Protection Partnership Offices Theale Gateway, behind Theale Library, Church Street, Theale, RG7 5BZ
No booking is required, however please note, as it is a drop-in service, you may be required to wait to have your item/s checked.
If you are unable to attend the venue on either date to have your blanket tested, please contact tsadvice@westberks.gov.uk or telephone 01635 503242 to discuss collection and drop-off of your item/s.
