Animal rescue near Hurley

At 2:16pm on Thursday, 19 February, we received reports of an animal in need of rescue near Frogmill in Hurley.

A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Maidenhead Fire Station was sent to the scene alongside the Water Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station, a crew from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service and a team from Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (BLSAR).

On arrival, crews discovered a deer stranded on an island in the Thames. Firefighters used a boat to access the island and safely rescue the deer.

Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 15 minutes.
