Horse Rescue in Hurst

At 3:27pm on Tuesday, 25 November, we received reports of an animal in need of rescue on Dunt Avenue in Hurst.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Mortimer, Maidenhead and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Animal Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station, the Heavy Rescue Unit from Theale Community Fire Station, and one Officer.

Upon arrival, crews found one miniature cob horse stuck in a swimming pool. Crews used a light portable pump to drain the water from the pool, before using some hay bales to create steps to safely lead the horse out of the pool.

They were on scene for approximately two hours.
