Fire in the open in Newbury

At 11:45am on Friday, 22 August, we received reports of a fire in the open near Fifth Road in Newbury.

A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Newbury Fire Station was sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews discovered a field fire caused by a downed power cable. Firefighters used three hose reels and beaters to extinguish the fire.

Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 10 minutes.
