Fire in Reading

At 7:38pm on Monday, 27 October, we received reports of a fire on Severn Way in Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Theale, Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Whitley Wood, Wokingham and Mortimer fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside an Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station, the Hazardous Environmental Response Unit from Whitley Wood Fire Station and four Officers. One crew and an Aerial Ladder Platform from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service were also sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found the roof of the property on fire with water affecting the property. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used three hose reels, one main jet and the Aerial Ladder Platform to put out the fire and dampen down the area. One person was placed in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

They were on scene for approximately four hours and 39 minutes.

One crew from Whitley Wood Fire Station returned to the scene the next day for a reinspection.
