Hazmat Incident in Reading

At 3:51pm on Wednesday, 14 January, we received reports of a hazmat incident on The Street in Englefield, Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Ascot and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Hazardous Environmental Response Unit from Whitley Wood Fire Station, two Officers, and one crew from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Upon arrival, crews found that a fuel tanker had leaked a large amount of fuel onto the road. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used absorbent granules and specialist pads to make the scene safe, before contacting the Environment Agency.

They were on scene for approximately one hour and 16 minutes.
