At 10:00pm on Sunday, 10 August, we received reports of a road traffic collision on the eastbound carriageway of the M4 between junctions 13 and 12.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury, Hungerford and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside the Service’s Heavy Rescue Unit.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a collision involving one vehicle and made the scene safe before handing over to Thames Valley Police.
Tragically, one person passed away at the scene. Our thoughts are with their friends and family at the incredibly difficult time.
Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour and 50 minutes.
