Incident on M4(W)

Update 16:45 on 15/07:

At 1:09pm on Tuesday, 15 July, we received reports of a vehicle on fire on the M4 Westbound between Junction 12 in Theale and Junction 13 in Chieveley.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Theale fire stations, the Water Carrier from Bracknell Fire Station and two Officers were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found one lorry trailer containing large amounts of waste on fire. Five firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reel jets and two triple extension ladders and a thermal imaging camera to put out the fire and make the scene safe, before handing the scene over to National Highways.

Traffic caught within the closure is being released past the scene Westbound. It still remains closed at this time.
