At 11:03am on Tuesday, 30 December, we received reports of a vehicle fire on the A34 southbound near World’s End, Newbury.
Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury Fire Station were sent to the scene.
Upon arrival, crews found one bin lorry on fire. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reels to put out the fire. Due to an oil spill, crews also used Dammit mats to cover nearby drains and requested the attendance of National Highways and the Environment Agency.
Crews were on scene for approximately one hour and 25 minutes.
