At 7:39pm on Wednesday, 16 July, we received reports of a fire at a landfill site on St George’s Lane in Ascot.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Windsor, Maidenhead, Crowthorne, Mortimer, Ascot, Wokingham, Langley, Caversham Road, Whitley Wood, and Bracknell fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station, the Zetros Water Carrier from Bracknell Fire Station, the Aerial Ladder Platform and the Operational Support Unit from Whitley Wood Fire Station, and five Officers. Two crews and one Officer from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service also attended the scene.
Upon arrival, crews found a large waste fire. Firefighters used four main jets, three hose reels and two water hydrants to control and contain the fire.
One crew is still at the scene, continuing to dampen down the fire.
