Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service has published its Annual Report for 2024/2025, highlighting the progress made by the Service during the last financial year.

As well as summarising the Service’s performance in 2024/25, the Annual Report highlights a number of achievements and challenges in delivering services for the people of Berkshire.
Highlights from 2024/25
The last financial year saw the Service celebrate several important milestones recognised in the latest inspection by His Majesty’s Inspectorate for Constabularies and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS). The most recent inspection result from HMICFRS, which was released earlier this year, saw the Service achieve ‘Good’ grades for 8 of 11 areas inspected.
In 2024/25, the Service welcomed two new cohorts of Wholetime Firefighters at graduation ceremonies in May and November. Across both recruit intakes, the Service welcomed 35 new Firefighters who are now protecting communities across the county.
Meanwhile, Royal Berkshire Fire Authority embarked on an ambitious programme of investment in the Service’s people, estate, training and equipment. Throughout 2024/25, the Service introduced new fire engines and ICT equipment whilst also progressing a major redevelopment project at the Service’s Learning and Development Centre.
The Service also launched it’s new Sustainability Strategy which aims to improve the Service’s efficiency whilst mitigating the impact it has on the planet.
