At the event organised by Slough CVS, Sandy was recognised for his work as a Volunteer for RBFRS, where he always demonstrates great commitment, enthusiasm and support.

Speaking on the event, Sandy said: “It was a great pleasure as a RBFRS Community Volunteer to be invited to the One Slough Award Ceremony on Friday, 14 November at the Hilton Hotel, Heathrow, Terminal 5. This event celebrates the volunteers, community groups and public service partnerships that make a difference in Slough and East Berks.

“The night began with a drink’s reception followed by speeches from Will Tuckley, CEO, Slough Borough Council and Tan Dhesi, MP for Slough who thanked volunteers for their hard work and dedication in the community.  After which a rather lovely meal was served and entertainment by a local dance troupe followed.

“The highlight of my evening was being presented with the Public Service Partnership Award (RBFRS) by Steve Lee, Community Safety Advisor, for supporting community events, and raising awareness on fire safety and safe and well visits in Slough and East Berks among diverse communities of which I am very proud.

“There was positive feedback from a number of the community groups who thanked me and RBFRS for their continuing input and attendance at their events.

“A good night was had by all.”
