Fire Safety Sessions with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service
Looking for a valuable, hands‑on learning experience for your child? Our free Home Education Fire Safety Sessions are the perfect way to help KS2 children (ages 8-11) gain confidence and essential life-saving knowledge.

What your child will learn:
In this fun and interactive 90‑minute session, children will discover how to:
- Spot potential fire hazards at home;
- Test and respond safely to smoke alarms;
- Create and follow a family fire escape plan;
- Call 999 confidently in an emergency.
They will also have the opportunity to explore a real fire engine, handle equipment and learn about the vital role of the Fire Service in keeping communities safe.
Why parents love these sessions:
- Free, practical education delivered by Fire Service personnel;
- Hands-on, memorable learning – no textbooks, just real-world skills!
- Peace of mind knowing your child is learning skills that could protect your whole family.
Sessions are hosted at local Fire Stations across Berkshire. Spaces are limited and may fill quickly. If a date is no longer available through the booking form, please check back regularly for newly-added sessions.
Please note – parents and carers must remain on site for the duration of the session.
