As part of the recent national Volunteers’ Week, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service took some time to celebrate and thank our wonderful volunteers for everything they do.
Our volunteers were recognised at a special event held at Maidenhead Fire Station on Thursday, 5 June, by Assistant Chief Fire Officer Katie Mills. Not all of our 14 current volunteers were able to attend the event, but those that did received certificates and letters of thanks, signed by the Chief Fire Officer, in recognition of their commitment.
Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers, and has been running for more than forty years.
Our dedicated group of volunteers has helped with lots of our events and initiatives. So far this year our volunteers have supported thirty RBFRS activities or events, including car washes, open days, Armed Forces Veterans’ Hubs, operational exercises, and the upcoming Fire Cadets Graduation.
Throughout all these events and more, volunteers support RBFRS colleagues in promoting fire safety messaging and services such as safe and well visits to our local communities.
Volunteer co-ordinator Jaki Carter said: “So much of what we do as a Service is supported by our hardworking volunteers, so it was important to thank them for everything they do.
“Volunteers enable us to do more home fire safety checks, raise awareness of RBFRS Services, and so much more. We truly value the contribution volunteers make to Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service to serve our communities.”
