Request a Community Visit from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service

We have a number of prevention activities that are delivered in our local communities to support our Commitments and Annual Plan. These provide education, safety information and advice on how to prevent fires and other emergencies.

Due to the high volume of requests we receive for community visits, we have recently reviewed our procedure. All requests must now align to the Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service priorities. This will ensure that our message is reaching the priority groups of people within Berkshire.

We may consider:

  • Attending a talk or presentation to an adult community group
  • Attending a large community event, where the attendees may be representative of our priority groups
  • Visits to our stations for community groups

At the present time we will not consider:

  • Requests to visit primary schools (other than the Year 5 visits that are part of our Annual Schools Programme)
  • Requests from nurseries and pre-schools
  • Requests from individual schools to attend careers events
  • Requests for birthday parties or individual visits to stations

If you would like to request a community visit please complete our Community Visits Request Form.

If you would like to request a visit for Year 5 as part of our Annual Schools Programme, please visit our School Visits page.

To further support teachers and home educators, there is a wide range of free curriculum-aligned resources on the StayWise website which has been developed by UK Fire and Rescue Services, police, paramedics, Coastguard and other safety organisations.

Community Rooms

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service has a number of Community Rooms that are available for the public to use, within it’s buildings across the county.

To book a community room, please visit this page.

Contaminants Zoning

We have a zoning system within our buildings to help minimise the risk posed by fire contaminants, which are the chemical products of fire combustion. This risk is minimal to any visitor, as it is primarily in place to support our teams who may be exposed to potential fire contaminants through occupational exposure. You are not required to take any action when moving between the zones. For your awareness only, this poster will be displayed around fire stations when you visit, detailing what each zone signifies.
