Young Firefighters – Have a Go events

We are running two sessions for young people to come and try out the Young Firefighters scheme.

Young Firefighters is a cadet scheme for 12-16 olds. Working as a team, Young Firefighters take part in practical and theoretical fire service activities, including hose drills, breathing apparatus procedures and fire safety awareness sessions. The scheme also teaches young people essential life skills such as self-discipline, confidence and leadership.

Dates of the sesssions are:
Wednesday, 13 June, 7.30pm – 8.30pm at Whitley Wood Fire Station.
Thursday, 21 June, 7.30pm – 8.30pm at Maidenhead Fire Station.

Young people must be accompanied by an adult. Places are limited and booking is essential.

The next intake will begin in September 2018. The programme runs for 36 weeks from September to July following the school terms and lasts for one academic year.

There are four Young Firefighters units within RBFRS based on stations, each run one evening a week from 7pm – 9pm. Units run on Wednesday evenings at Whitley Wood and Crowthorne and Thursday evenings at Maidenhead and Newbury.
