Get your electric blanket tested for free this autumn.
Accidental electric blanket fires rise by 24% year-on-year.
Households are being urged to check that their heating devices are safe, as fires involving electric blankets have reached a five year high.
The Public Protection Partnership will once again be offering a free Electric Blanket Testing service this year in Bracknell and Newbury.
The date, times and venues are:
- Monday, 26 October 2026. From 9:30am to 3:30pm. At Bracknell Fire Station.
- Tuesday, 27 October 2026. From 9:30am to 3:30pm. At Newbury Library.
No booking is required, however please note, as it is a drop-in service, you may be required to wait to have your item/s checked.
If you are unable to attend the venue on either date to have your blanket tested, please contact tsadvice@westberks.gov.uk or telephone 01635 503242 to discuss collection and drop-off of your item/s.
Please note that if your blanket fails testing, it will be retained and disposed of safely by PPP Officers.
