At 5:56am on Sunday, 14 June, we received reports of an animal in destress on Windermere Way in Thatcham.

A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Newbury Fire Station was sent to the scene.

On arrival, the crew discovered a cat trapped in a football net. Firefighters safely released the cat from the net.

The crew was at the scene for approximately 10 minutes.
