At 6:10pm on Saturday, 4 July, we received reports of an animal in distress on Hambridge Lane in Newbury.

Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury Fire Station were sent to the scene, alongside the Animal Rescue Unit from Caversham Road Fire Station and the Heavy Rescue Unit from Theale Community Fire Station.

Upon arrival, crews found two cows stuck in a lake, before safely rescuing them and handing them back to their owner.

They were on scene for approximately one hour and 43 minutes.
