At 7:38pm on Thursday, 20 August, we received reports of an animal in need of rescue on Church Lane in Shinfield.

One Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Caversham Road Fire Station was sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, the crew found an injured red kite stuck between fences. The crew safely rescued the bird, before taking it to a local vet.

They were on scene for approximately 43 minutes.
