At 10.18am we were called to reports of an animal rescue on Betty Grove Lane, Sindlesham
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham Road and Wokingham were sent to the scene, along with the Animal Rescue Unit from Caversham Road and the Heavy Rescue Unit from Theale Community Fire Station.
Crews found a horse that was unable to get up in a field. Firefighters attempted to lift the horse into an upright position using the Heavy Rescue Unit and into the care of a vet. Sadly, the horse could not be saved and was put to sleep as a result of injuries sustained.
Crews were on the scene for about four hours.
