At 1:09am on Saturday, 11 July, we received reports of a fire on Eric Avenue in Emmer Green.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene.

On arrival, crews discovered a roof fire in a domestic property. Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera, ladders, small gear and a hose reel to find and extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were at the scene for approximately two hours before returning twice to reinspect the property for hotspots.
