At 11:34am on Saturday, 17 October, we received reports of a fire on Newbury Road near Lambourn.

A Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Newbury Fire Station was sent to the scene alongside two Officers and a crew from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

On arrival, crews discovered a fire in a first storey bedroom. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire before ventilating smoke from the property. Crews then conducted a salvage operation in the house while using cutting gear to prevent further fire spread by removing damaged floorboards.

Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 50 minutes before returning later to reinspect the property for hotspots with a thermal imaging camera.
