At 4:07pm on Saturday, 8 August, we received reports of a fire on Cumbrae Close in Slough.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham, Ascot, Slough, Langley and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside five Officers and an Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station.

They were also joined at the scene by crews from London Fire Brigade and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.

On arrival, crews discovered a fire affecting a row of four terraced houses, three nearby garages and two parked vehicles. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus rescued a cat and a lizard and provided immediate emergency care to both. Firefighters then used five hose reels to extinguish the fire.

One firefighter was assessed by South Central Ambulance Service after being exposed to smoke. They were then taken to hospital for a precautionary check-up.

Crews were at the scene for approximately eight hours and 20 minutes before handing over to Thames Valley Police. A crew then returned later to reinspect the scene for hotspots.
