At 4:06pm on Wednesday, 24 June, we received reports of a fire at a commercial high rise building on Abbey Street in Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Theale, Wokingham, Bracknell and Ascot fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Aerial Ladder Platform from Whitley Wood Fire Station, and one Officer was sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found that a small fire in an electrical room in the basement of the building was extinguished by a CO2 extinguisher prior to their arrival. Firefighters ensured the scene was safe, before handing over to onsite staff.

Crews were on scene for approximately 17 minutes.
