Field Fire in Swallowfield

UPDATE – 21/08/2026 12:00pm

At 11:16am on Thursday, 20 August, we received reports of a field fire on Part Lane in Swallowfield.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Theale, Wokingham Road, Bracknell, Caversham Road, Maidenhead and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside an offroad vehicle from Crowthorne Fire Station, the Zetros water carrier from Bracknell Fire Station, and three Officers.

One offroad vehicle from Surrey Fire and Rescue Service and one Officer from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service were also sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found a fire in a field involving approximately four hectares of grass and scrubland.

Firefighters used multiple hose reel jets, the Zetros and the two offroad vehicles to put out the fire and dampen down the area.

They were on scene for approximately three hours and 50 minutes.

One crew from Whitley Wood Fire Station later returned to the scene for a reinspection where they found several hotspots. Firefighters used one hose reel to dampen down the hotspots.

The crew from Whitley Wood Fire Station returned again to the scene the following morning for a reinspection. Firefighters found some hotspots and used one hose reel to dampen them down.

Later, a crew from Whitley Wood Fire Station went back to the scene for another reinspection, where they found no further hotspots.
