At 7:05pm on Friday, 10 July, we received reports of an incident near Mead Lane in Upper Basildon.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside the ‘Zetros’ water carrier from Bracknell Fire Station, an off-road vehicle from Lambourn Fire Station and a crew from Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service.

On arrival, crews discovered a large field fire. Firefighters used hose reels and the Zetros to extinguish the fire before using a thermal imaging camera to check for hotspots.

Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour and 10 minutes before returning later to check that the fire was fully extinguished.
