At 2:47pm on Wednesday, 30 September, we received reports of a fire in the open at McIlroy Park on Thirlmere Avenue in Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found an area of woodland containing bushes and trees on fire. Firefighters used two hose reels, one jet and one water shuttle to put out the fire and make the scene safe.

They were on scene for approximately one hour and 32 minutes.
