At 10:44pm on Sunday, 11 October, we received reports of a fire in the open on Drift Road in Windsor.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Windsor and Ascot fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the ‘Zetros’ Water Carrier from Bracknell Fire Station.

Upon arrival, crews found a fire involving a hedge, fence, wood chippings and leaves. Firefighters used hose reels to put out the fire, while the landowner used a digger to pull out and turn over the wood chips.

Crews were on scene for approximately one hour and 26 minutes.

The crew from Windsor Fire Station later returned to the scene for a reinspection where they monitored for hotspots.
