At 5:58pm on Thursday, 13 August, we received reports of a fire near the Colnbrook By-Pass near Slough.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Ascot, Slough, Langley, Maidenhead and Windsor fire stations were sent to the scene alongside three Officers and an offroad vehicle from Mortimer Fire Station.

Crews from London Fire Brigade and a drone team from Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue were also sent to the scene.

On arrival, crews discovered a fire involving approximately eight hectares of grassland and scrubland. Firefighters used several hose reels, three hose reel jets, backpack extinguishers and beaters to put the fire out.

Crews were at the scene for approximately five hours and 30 minutes. A crew from Windsor Fire Station and an off-road vehicle from Crowthorne Fire Station returned the following morning to reinspect for hotspots.

The Colnbrook By-Pass is now open.
