UPDATE – 22/07/2026:
At 6:18pm on Monday, 20 July, we received reports of smoke in the area near Broad Lane in Upper Bucklebury, Reading.
Multiple Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury, Hungerford, Wokingham, Ascot, Theale and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the 4×4 offroad vehicle from Lambourn Fire Station, the ‘Zetros’ water carrier from Bracknell Fire Station and three Officers.
Upon arrival, crews found an approximately 400 metres by 100 metres area of woodland on fire. Firefighters used several hose reels to put out the fire and dampen down the area, before using a thermal imaging camera to monitor the temperature and check for hotspots.
They were on scene for approximately one day, two hours and 49 minutes.
One crew from Newbury Fire Station returned to the scene on Wednesday, 22 July for a reinspection.
