At 5:29pm on Sunday, 31 March, we received reports of a fire on Union Street in Reading.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road, Whitley Wood and Theale fire stations were sent to the scene alongside an Incident Command Unit and an Officer.
Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in a shop involving lithium-ion batteries. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used a hose reel to extinguish the fire.
Crews were at the scene for approximately two hours and 22 minutes before returning the following morning to reinspect the property.
