At 7:39am on Friday, 15 May, we received reports of a fire on Edinburgh Road in Reading.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road, Wokingham Road and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside two Officers.

Upon arrival, crews found a fire in a first floor bedroom. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to put out the fire, before using a ventilation fan to clear the smoke from the property. Firefighters rescued five people from the property, before giving them immediate emergency care and placing them in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were on scene for approximately one hour.
