At 12:58am on Thursday, 30 April, we received reports of a smoke alarm sounding on Woodlands View in Newbury.

Two Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury Fire Station were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews found a small kitchen fire in a ground floor flat. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to put out the fire to put out the fire and make the scene safe. Firefighters also rescued one person from the property, before giving them immediate emergency care and placing them in the care of South Central Ambulance Service.

Crews were on scene for approximately one hour and 23 minutes.
