At 7:48pm on Monday, 7 April, we received a call from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service to reports of a train fire near Church Road in Sandhurst.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Wokingham, Bracknell and Crowthorne fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the ‘Zetros’ Water Carrier from Bracknell Fire Station, an Incident Command Unit from Maidenhead Fire Station, two Officers, and one crew from Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Service.
Upon arrival crews discovered a small fire in the middle carriage of a diesel train. Crews helped safely evacuate passengers from the train whist two firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire. They then handed the scene over to Network Rail.
Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour and 30 minutes.
