Car Fire in Newbury

At 2:23pm on Wednesday, 15 January, we received reports of a vehicle fire on Cansfield End in Newbury.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Newbury and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene, alongside the Hazardous Environment Response Unit from Whitley Wood Fire Station.

Upon arrival, crews found one car on fire in the driveway of the property, which was causing damage to the garage door, front door and first-floor window. Four firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reels and two dry powder extinguishers to put out the fire, before using a ventilation fan to clear the smoke and make the area safe. They then handed over to the Environment Agency.

They were on scene for approximately two hours and 57 minutes.
