At 11:07am on Saturday, 19 September, we received reports of a vehicle fire on Cross Lane near Spencers Wood.

Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Caversham Road and Whitley Wood fire stations were sent to the scene.

On arrival, crews discovered a forklift on fire. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used two hose reels and a main jet to extinguish the fire.

Crews were at the scene for approximately one hour before returning later that afternoon to extinguish debris that reignited.
